Two weeks before Fathers Day, what we have actually planned is a simple lunch out at the mall. But on the last-minute, there was a sudden change of plans(not to mention why, I’m the mastermind). We ended up landing to the famous Visita Iglesia and Tourist destination for pilgrims, Kamay ni Hesus (Hand of Jesus) in Lucban, Quezon.
Leaving San Pablo City around 9:30 in the morning and arrived there after 3 hours travel was quite exhausting but worth it. Since it is almost lunch, we filled our stomach first before attending the mass. If you will be coming from Manila, it will take you roughly 5-6 hours to reach there.
Fresh air and a sense of calm pervading the sprawling area. Hope in a miracle, or even just simply the sense of being healed. This is what draws thousands of people year-round to the Kamay ni Hesus (Hand of Jesus) shrine in Lucban town in this province south of Manila—more so during Holy Week, when the visitors peak. For our visit last Sunday, it is mainly to treat our Dad in his special day. It’s not his birthday(ssshhh! we’re actually planning it on his B-day on July ), but it’s the day that all Dad’s are celebrating. It’s very heartwarming that we’re climbing the same stairs up to reach out for Jesus. It feels more blessed and gracious. It’s the usual bonding that Families are doing because it involves our faith.
The pain is all worth it ’til we reached the top. Though my legs feels like they are about to cramp. Seeing each others face bring us to laughter. Sweating while catching our breath, were not ready to go down yet. After 30 minutes of fun up there, everyone felt thirsty urging us to go down and get some drinks. With God’s grace, we’re already downstairs when the heavy rain poured. We had ice cream for refreshment. And when the shower stopped, we head to the pasalubong (souvenir) shops. Wow.. so many things to choose from.
Relishing that moment of wander lusting. Far from home and a vacation away from stress. I believe my Dad really enjoyed our treat for him (just don’t mind his painful feet and knees. ) So happy that we did it for Fathers Day. Travelling is really more fun to with the Family!
